Sa Bu Nim (4th Degree) Toran started training in 1997 in Wolcott New York with Master Joe Burnett.
Toran graduated from the University of Buffalo with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science in 2006.​
He met his wife Sarah at a tournament in 2008 and moved to South Carolina with her in 2009.
